After graduating from the University of Otago in December 2015 with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) and a Bachelor of Biomedical Science (BBiomedSc) I was thrilled to join Masterton Dental in 2016 and never looked back. Time has since flown and now my wife and I proudly called Masterton home living in Lansdowne.

The clinic has a long history of serving the local community, after taking it over in 2019 I introduced many of the latest technologies in the field and we now offer a comprehensive range of services all in-house. The most rewarding part is to be providing world class dental care locally in the Wairarapa.

What I love about being a dentist is taking the time to get to know my patients, and putting them at ease during their visits while delivering a high standard of dental care. My focus largely is on full mouth reconstructions, smile makeovers and implant dentistry. Same day smile makeovers are my favourite.

I am very grateful to have a profession which I am so passionate about, and I get to work alongside talented dentists with a diverse skill set to collaborate with to bring the best outcomes to people. Since graduating I have taken many opportunities to travel worldwide and attend the most reputable residency programmes including full mouth rehabilitation, cosmetic dentistry, orthodontics, and dental implantology. I have ongoing affiliations with NZ dental association (NZDA), Wellington branch of dentists association and NZ sedation dentistry (NZSSD).

When Im not looking at teeth or travelling, I thoroughly enjoy the relaxed lifestyle the Wairarapa offers. In the summertime I can be found on the beach or entertaining friends and colleagues from out of town. My hobbies include fitness and racquet sports like badminton and squash.

Dr. Kenny Kim graduated with an honours degree from the University of Otago. Upon graduating he began working in Timaru and Geraldine in private practice and now splits his time between Masterton, Geraldine and Wellington.

Dr. Kenny has the belief that all communities, no matter how small, should have access to all treatments available in dentistry. Therefore, he has developed advanced skills in all aspects of dentistry particularly in the fields of dental implants, Orthodontics (braces) and cosmetics. He continues to expand on treatments he is able to provide to the community by attending numerous internationally recognised postgraduate training.

I graduated from Otago university in 2021, where I completed a Bachelor of Sciences and Bachelor of Dental surgery. I started my career at Christchurch hospital working as a Dental house officer. During this time I was exposed to the surgical aspect of dentistry and learning to manage patients with complex medical conditions.

I’m passionate about all facets of dentistry that we provide here at Masterton dental. Most importantly building relationships with patients to bring them a healthy, confident smile is what brings me joy and drives me to consistently improve.

Out of the clinic, I am an avid golfer and have had the opportunity to represent New Zealand as a junior player. So if you don’t find me going for a hike in the beautiful Wairarapa region, you will find me on the golf course!

Dr Caylee Jeon

Dr. Caylee is a graduate of Bachelor of Dental Surgery at Otago University.

She chose dentistry as a career pathway as she has a great passion for serving others and improving oral healthcare. She is known by her colleagues as compassionate, meticulous, and always strives to create an exemplary dental experience for her patients. She advocates in the importance of building strong relationships with her patients, and is extremely dedicated in bringing back a healthy and beautiful smile.

Dr. Caylee has completed various courses, with both local and global competencies; including a Residency Programme in Prosthodontics and she is part-way through a Master Clinician Program in Implant Dentistry. She works incredibly hard in developing and advancing her skillset in dentistry in order to provide the highest level of quality care.

When she is not at the clinic, Caylee enjoy staying active. She loves to cook, read books, and is recently learning how to play golf.

Dr Noor Al Jassasi

I graduated from the University of Otago with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery with Distinction, and afterwards moved to Auckland to begin my dental career there. My dental journey then brought me to Masterton to join the amazing team here at Masterton Dental.

From a dental perspective, I enjoy working in the vast range of procedures and areas that dentistry has to offer, and have a particular interest in cosmetic dentistry. I strongly believe in the power of a healthy smile and the impact this can make on our lives. I understand that people can get anxious in a dental setting; so I always aim to give my patients a positive and comfortable experience in the dental chair.

Outside of dentistry, I love spending time in nature, and cooking and sharing food with others. Photography and drawing are also passions of mine.

I joined The Dental Clinic team in 2006, after a long career in hairdressing and embarked on my Dental Surgery Assistant certification course, passing this in 2007. Over the next few years I assisted in many oral surgery procedures, including several visits to the plastics unit at Hutt Hospital, where several of our patients have undergone extensive treatment for various oral cancers.

In 2010, I successfully completed my Level I examinations in Orthodontic Assisting and followed this by achieving certification in Level II in 2012. I have attended several Invisalign courses as well as being trained in Fast Braces and tooth whitening systems, the use of Botulinum Toxin for treatment of Bruxism and dento-facial aesthetics, Dermal Fillers and the Obagi range of skin rejuvenation treatments.

As of 2019 I have taken the position of Practice manager where my duties include day to day management of the practice and assisting in all aspects of general dentistry when required.

In my spare time I look after my demanding animals and enjoy developing our rural home and section with my partner.

I have recently joined Masterton Dental as part of their Reception and front desk team and am currently undergoing the challenge of learning the completely different and complex field of Dental Surgery and its many branches.

In my spare time I love walking, travelling and spending time with friends, not least of which involves the four legged canine who has decided to make our home his home!

I have recently joined Masterton Dental as a clinical Dental Surgery Assistant having decided to return to my former profession.

I achieved my NZDA Dental Surgery Assistant’s qualification in 1985 and over the next 16 years, worked in several Dental Practices in both the Hutt Valley and Taupo. During this time, I had extensive experience in General Dentistry as well as the specialist services such as Oral Surgery, Prosthodontics and Endodontics. I was also able to gain considerable administrative experience during this period to complement my clinical time.

In October 2000, my husband and I came to Masterton to set up our own business, which we ran successfully for 12 years before I moved to a position within the hospitality industry but after 6 years decided to return to my initial profession.

Dentistry has certainly changed in the past 18 years but I am embracing the new challenge, particularly with Masterton Dental who offer all the treatments available within the field of dentistry.

I enjoy good food, wine and travel and am currently turning my hand to house renovations to which my interest in wine is put to good use!

Asyraf was born and raised in Malaysia before moving to Aotearoa in 2017. Asyraf has a patient-centered approach to dentistry with an emphasis on preventive care. He has a special interest in healthy gums (periodontics) and a passion for helping people overcome their dental anxiety.

On his off days he may be out fishing or on the golf course practicing his swing.

Hello, I’m Yuen Xin and I graduated from the University of Otago with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery with First Class Honours (BDS Hons) in 2022. It is my pleasure to be a part of the awesome team at Masterton Dental Clinic!

I am genuinely passionate about all aspects of dentistry and you will definitely see that come through when you are in the chair with me. My goal as a dentist is to not only help you achieve your best smile, but also make sure that it stays healthy for years to come.

I strive to always provide a gentle and compassionate dental experience while upholding the highest standards of excellence. I am committed to continuing education that will allow me to offer you the most innovative and effective treatments available. I love to integrate the latest techniques and technologies into my care so that I can provide you with the most efficient and comfortable dental experience.

Outside of dentistry, I am a big foodie and enjoy baking, cooking, and exploring different food places. I also love to travel and have been to numerous countries around the globe.

Our story

Our Story

In 2004, Dr Paddy Greville and Dr Robert Jones joined forces to form The Dental Clinic in Masterton, providing the community with a full range of Dental, Surgical and Orthodontic services. With the well earned retirement of Paddy in 2016, after having given over 35 years of service to the Wairarapa, Dr Akash Kota to joined as an Associate in January 2016.

We began a series of revamping and refurbishing the infrastructure, part of our transition was to rebrand ourselves as Masterton Dental. Akash joined as a partner subsequently has taken over the clinic. In 2019 the technological upgrades included a Dental Cone Beam CT which allows 3D rendering of the jaws for placing dental implants with minimal trauma and wisdom teeth removal. Additionally we got a Primescan CEREC which can fabricate same day crowns and smile makeovers in one visit. As of 2020 we have grown our clinic and are proud to have amazing staff and provide world class dental treatments right here in the Wairarapa!
